Nicholas Laneman
Associate Professor

Research Interests: Communication & information theory, detection & estimation theory, and signal processing applied to wireless communication and sensor networks.

Dr. Laneman joined the faculty in 2002. From 1995 to 2002, he was affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Research Laboratory of Electronics, MIT, where he held a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and served as both a Research and Teaching Assistant. During 1998 and 1999 he was also with Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, both as a Member of the Technical Staff and as a Consultant. He holds 2 patents, with 3 others pending. He received the MIT EECS Harold L. Hazen Teaching Award in 2001, and the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) in 2003. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
